Riverside Rugby continued a three game win streak on Saturday, defeating the Old Aztecs of San Diego 27-12. The win avenges an earlier loss to the Aztecs.
The Aztec’s excellent ability to capitalize on mistakes and turnover ball gave Riverside fans a scare early in the first half. San Diego’s experienced scrum half answered two of Riverside’s tries by placing himself in the right place, at the right time, to create scoring opportunities for his teammates from quick turn over ball. Unlike the first meeting, the Killer Bees remained focused and minimized the openings available to San Diego for the rest of the game.
As usual, Riverside’s forward running juggernauts Aquila and Kel battered down the opposition forwards, and broke the advantage line with ease, setting up good clean play for the backs.
