If you use Firefox for Mac, you may have noticed that Firefox has the annoying habit of saving all your temporary downloads to the desktop. This will continue even after you’ve changed the download folder to be something else, leading to a messy OSX desktop.
Solution:
Make a change in the Safari Preferences. That’s right! Open Safari, and select “Preferences” from the Safari menu. There is an entry called “Save downloaded files to.” Change this to whatever you actually want it to be. Don’t ask me why you should have to open Safari to change a Firefox preference. I don’t blame this on OS X, this is Mozilla being silly.
