Riverside Under-19’s Lose Battle Against Back Bay

Under partly cloudy skies Riverside took the field in a home game against perennial youth rugby powerhouse Back Bay of Newport Beach. Wearing their new black and gold jerseys for the first time the Raptors came out with their trademark defensive brilliance, running all over the pitch laying out jarring tackles that frequently separated ball […]

Riverside Under 19s defeat Fullerton, 32-17

The Riverside Under-19’s traveled to Fullerton to play a spirited side that included an U-19 Eagle. Fullerton capitalized on the slow starting Raptors by putting two quick tries on Riverside for an early 10-0 lead with barely 5 minutes elapsed. The boys from Riverside maintained their composure and played the rest of the half in […]

The match today, or the mismatch as it where compels most knowledge rugby aficionado’s to summarily dismiss Coach Peter Thorburn’s recent and overly sanguine assessment that United States […]

Eagles: One Step Forward, Two Steps Back, Deja Vu all over again

Today the United States fielded a the same side that played against England only four days earlier, altered only by Emerick’s suspension, and it showed against a well rested Tongan side. The fresh Tongan forwards drew first blood a scant two minutes into the match when Maka rolled the listless USA pack for a try. […]

Rugby Profile in the Washington Post

Dan Steinberg of the Washington Post has written an excellent article on Rugby in America, as told through a profile of standout flanker Inaki Basauri.
An excerpt:
That professional rugby even became an option was itself something of a fluke. Basauri had been your typical baseball- and football-playing suburbanite until middle school, when an Italian friend […]

Penalty Dimminishes Fine Eagle Effort

Yet, today the Eagles stood tall against England. Ultimately […]
